The application should be submitted to the Nationality Section at Passport, Immigration & Nationality Authority “PINA” or any of the Egyptian consular missions abroad. The applicant should fill a special form to which the following documents are attached :-

- Identification documents proving Egyptian nationality of the applicant. (Birth certificates of the applicant and his father).
- A photocopy of his foreign passport once granted the foreign nationality.
- A photocopy of the identity card and the military service certificate if applying for exemption from the military service as having dual nationality

| The approval of the Minister of Interior is granted by issuing a Ministerial Decree within (45) days starting from the application date. Unless the applicant requests to keep his nationality, such application shall be deemed as a waiver of the Egyptian nationality. In this case, the waiver takes effect from the date of acquiring the foreign nationality. Otherwise, the applicant shall hold both nationalities starting from the date of acquiring his foreign nationality without charging him any fees. |
| Those who waive the Egyptian nationality are allowed to apply for regaining it within a year from the date of its waiver, upon a decree issued by the Minister of Interior. The application form for acquiring a foreign nationality costs L.E 50.40 |
