| Training and Development College was established in 1975 as one of Police Academy's affiliated entities to be responsible for planning , preparing, implementing and following up the training activities of police officers. The College mandate includes the upgrading of officers' skills and performance standards through its direct supervision over 23 institutes and departments providing training in various security specializations as follows: |
1) Police Officers' Leaders Institute: |
| Established in 1962 to develop top-ranking officers' capacities, enabling them to handle the responsibilities of senior managerial positions. The main objective of the institute is to enrich senior officers' thoughts, leadership capacities and planning skills. It avails them the opportunity to discuss work problems, suggest performance methods and exchange field experience. The institute has an elite panel of lecturers combining university professors, experts from security scientific research centers as well as top Interior Ministry's leaders. |
2) Police Officers' Training Institute: |
| Established in 1968 as an affiliate to Training General Department. In 1975, the Institute became under the administrative and technical supervision of Training and Development College. It plays an important role in providing general and specialized training for police officers from Egypt and Arab sisterly countries. |
3) Central Security Forces' Training nstitutes: |
Established on 10 August 1969, The Specialized Training Center for Central Security Forces has been entitled to train the officers working in Central Security Forces Sector. In 1983/84 its title was changed into "CFS Officers’ Training Institute". In 1997, Ministerial Decree No. 1028 was issued regarding the establishment of (6) specialized training institutes at the headquarters of the different general departments affiliated to Central Security Forces Sector”( geographic branches) ; namely:
- The Specialized Training Institute in Cairo.
- The Specialized Training Institute in Ismailia.
- The Specialized Training Institute in Giza.
- The Specialized Training Institute in Alexandria.
- The Specialized Training Institute in Assiout.
- The Specialized Training Institute for Special perations.
All the aforementioned training institutes are assigned with the task of training all officers of all ranks in the fields of: riots & stay-ins dispersal, combat tasks and tactical skills; with the aim to provide them with the skills necessary to carry out their combat missions. |
4) Security Forces Officers’ Training Institute: |
| Established in 1992, Security Forces Officers’ Training Institute is responsible for qualifying officers to accomplish their duties in the field of security forces’ training, as well as preparing them to perform their duties by providing them with the necessary administrative and technical skills. |
5) Criminal Evidence Sciences Institute: |
| Founded in 1973, the institute is located in the headquarters of Criminal Evidence General Department. It conducts specialized training courses in the field of crime detection using the latest scientific methods and techniques. |
6) Civil Defence Institute: |
| Established in 1996, it carries the mission of training officers to render them "technically" capable of supervising the operation of Civil Defense sections in different governorates and departments. |
7) Police Communications Institute: |
| Founded in 1973, it takes over preparing and training officers in the field of police communications according to the needs of the different security bodies. |
8) Advanced Training Institute: |
| Established in 1971, it offers police officers and personnel general and special training courses in the fields of forces' deployment (all levels of formations) as well as pursue, siege, storming and survey operations. |
9) Information Systems Sciences Institute: |
| Founded in 1990, Information Systems Sciences Institute prepares officers to deal with computers and modern information systems. |
10) The Training Department at Anti Narcotics General Administration (ANGA): |
| The department was established in 1976 with the aim to qualify and prepare officers and personnel working in the field of drug combat as well as training them on the most modern means and developed scientific devices used in this field. |
11) Traffic Institute: |
| It was founded in 1990; to uphold the responsibility of developing officers' information and polishing their experiences in the field of planning, organization and management of traffic operations, as well as accidents investigation. Among the institute major objectives is to render officers fully acquainted with the laws and regulations organizing these tasks. |
12) The Training Department at Prisons Sector: |
| The department was established in 1963 to carry out the training activities of officers working in the said field. |
13) Training Department at Police Sports Federation: |
| The department was founded in 1963. It is specialized in the preparation and qualification of officers in the fields of physical fitness, self-defense arts and combat operations. It also conducts trainers’ training courses in the mentioned fields. |
14) Maritime Training Center at Water Surfaces Department: |
| Founded in 1981, it aims at training officers, personnel and recruits in the fields of maritime arts, securing water surfaces as well as motorboats driving and maintenance. |
15) National Institute for Safeguard and Security: |
| Established in 2000, the institute trains officers and personnel working in the field of safeguard, security and VIP’s protection, whether Egyptians or foreigners, in coordination with the bodies concerned. It also aims at training security personnel and private guards in order to prepare high-level private security cadres acquainted with the worldwide rules and procedures applied in that regard. |
16) Training Department at Public Security Sector: |
| The department was founded in 1999. It is entitled with preparing the officers working -or nominated to work - in the field of criminal investigation to perform their duties. |
17) Police Cavalry Department: |
| It is one of the departments affiliated to Training General Department. It plays a major role in qualifying, developing and polishing officers' skills in the fields of horse- riding, horse- care and veterinary medicine. |
18) Civil Status Sector Training Institute: |
| The institute was established in 1999. It is charged with training officers working in Civil Status Sector. Egyptian university professors and experienced police officers lecture in the training courses held by the institute. |
