 Prisons Restoration

Believing in prisoners' right to welfare, Prisons Sector has resumed the development and renovation process of prisons buildings and compounds, in accordance with the technical and engineering specifications applied in modern prisons.


The restoration plan was drawn and implemented in coordination with the Financial Sector at the Ministry of Interior. The level of services delivered at prisons facilities was upgraded through a modernization process which included: education classes, mosques, clinics, hospitals and medical equipment in addition to playgrounds and workshops of different professions. The restoration and renovation process also covered prison facilities infrastructure (electricity, water and drainage).


Aspects of Care Provided to Prisoners:

Modern penitentiary policy pays due attention to all forms of care provided to prisoners, with the aim to reform and rehabilitate them. The major objective in that regard is render prisoners ready to reintegrate in society and lead a normal life after their release. There are several forms of care in prisons including; the living-conditions, social, cultural, educational, religious, health and sportive aspects. In addition, prisoners are trained on different crafts and professions.
